yes i have used accutane as a teenager. i had a bad case of it when i hit 13 to 17 yrs of age. accutane cured if you will my acne problem on my shoulders and back, but the acne left me badly scard. but in answer to your question, accutane definitely helps!!

That is the worst acne I have ever seen! The first photo seems normal for a testosterone cycle but I wonder how the acne progressed to that level and got infected as seen in the second photo. I would assume the person in these photos was not willing to go to the doctor right away do to the steroid use perhaps.

I saw one comment about losing the Acne. Does anyone else have any cures? I heard Acutane, anyone heard of this remedy? I have been off now for over 8 weeks and still suffering from the should and back ance pretty bad.

Steroids are very harmful for the body. Atheletes use them without knowing their side effects & get such kind of reaction. Its so bad.

Its so alarming about steroid.This things if desired,should be used within limits and for small period of time.Overdosage can lead to such bad effects like acne etc.One should be very consicious while taking steroids.

I had always problem with acne and i tried nearly all acne treatments available from using benzoyl peroxide as mentioned on acne.org (BS site) to following such acne MIRACLE treatment e-books like "Acne free in 3 days" (Biggest BS on the Internet). The only thing that helped me was changing my diet despite all clinical studies that have shown that diet isn't related to acne but hey, i now what has worked for me! So if you have troubles with acne read about acne treatments based on changing diet.

Im 18 and started doing steroids, my first cycle i gained 34 pounds and had not one pimple while on it. i stopped for 5 weeks and got back on, thats when i got severe face acne i have been off now for two weeks, and have been using retin a, and also minicycline. nothing is seeming to help? i never even had acne in highschool. Please help me, this sucks so bad.

I went back and emphasized that while steroids may have caused the initial outbreak of acne, it didn't cause the resulting severe infection and ulcerations. The point of posting the article was to show how such an extreme case would be used in anti-steroid scare tactics. A smaller percentage of steroid users will get severe steroid-induced acne BUT the case study cited by Lancet doesn't represent steroid-induced acne - it represents severe medical neglect to a skin problem that was allowed to reach this stage.
